Water's Edge Faith Community World Communion Sunday

Thursday, September 30, 2021
World Communion Sunday
This Sunday is known as World Communion Sunday, and we will be reflecting on our inter-connectedness as a global community, and as people of faith. We have seen how important it is to be able to gather with friends, loved ones, and yes, our church family as well. Many of the ways we come together for worship each week remind us of the importance of community.

In addition to the sacrament of Communion, we will consider music's role in reminding us that we are connected to God and to one another. Music does this in ways that cross cultures and borders, language and difference. I look forward to worshiping with all of you this Sunday, singing together, and remembering that God sustains us with a meal of grace. Wherever we are, we are not alone.

Blessings, Jessica
YouTube Channel change October 1
Updates on YouTube have made it possible for us to share a link with First Church in Mission Valley. We think this will be a positive change for those who like to watch both the 9 AM Mission Valley service and the 10:15 AM Water's Edge service online. Starting Oct. 1, you will be able to watch both services on the same YouTube channel here. Make sure to subscribe to this channel. You can always find us live-streaming from our website here: https://www.fumcsd.org/waters-edge/we-are-live/

Hygiene Kit Drive benefiting "Christie's Place"
Now through October| First Church Mission Valley & Water's Edge OB
The newly formed PUMAs, Proud United Methodist Alliance, our LGBTQIA++ friends at First Church and Water's Edge have decided to partner with Christie's Place, a center for women, children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. They are looking for help with their Hygiene Drive and are asking for the following supplies: Shampoo, conditioner, razors, lotion, tampons, toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby wipes, baby wash, and diapers. This is more important than many realize. Only when basic needs are met can women focus on their health and wellness. Please drop off donations at the at our table in the courtyard on Sundays through October. For more info, please email the PUMAs here.
OB Emergency Food Bank needs help
Our church is so grateful to be among many others who support this great ministry. The Water's Edge will resume collection of food donations for the food bank in our Sunday worship services - look for the basket located in the back of the OB Sanctuary. Donations that are especially helpful right now include: gently used or new shoes or flip flops, canned soup with vegetables, granola bars, cereal, and canned meat. Thank you!
Safe Harbors Network is seeking your help!
Host immigrant families, sponsor beds, donate and to volunteer.
Christ commands us to "Love your neighbors as yourself." (Mark 12:31) Newly arrived immigrants are our neighbors & more immigrants are on the way. One way to help these neighbors in the San Diego community is through Safe Harbors Network, associated with Christ Ministry Center & International Rescue Committee.  ZOOM CLASSES
Pastor's Bible Study
Sundays through November 21
8 - 9 AM via Zoom
All are welcome to join Rev. Jessica via Zoom for Bible study each Sunday morning. This fall, we will study the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts, which share an author and describe the life and ministry of Jesus, his death and resurrection, and the formation of the early church. This study looks at the historical context of the text, considers how these scriptures have inspired Jesus followers throughout the millennia, and allows time for discussion about how these words continue to speak to us today, shape our faith, and apply to our life circumstances.
