Reflecting God: Embrace Holy Living from The Global Church of the Nazarene in Lenexa, Kansas, United States "Seek His Word: Walk In The Light" by Steve Malcolm for Monday,
June 17th, 2019 RG AUDIO 061719 Psalm 19:1-19Psalm 19:1-19 1 For the leader. A psalm of David: The heavens declare the glory of God, the dome of the sky speaks the work of his hands.
2 Every day it utters speech, every night it reveals knowledge.
3 Without speech, without a word, without their voices being heard,
4 their line goes out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. In them he places a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom from the bridal chamber, with delight like an athlete to run his race.
6 It rises at one side of the sky, circles around to the other side, and nothing escapes its heat.
7 The Torah of ADONAI is perfect, restoring the inner person. The instruction of ADONAI is sure, making wise the thoughtless.
8 The precepts of ADONAI are right, rejoicing the heart. The mitzvah of ADONAI is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of ADONAI is clean, enduring forever. The rulings of ADONAI are true, they are righteous altogether,
10 more desirable than gold, than much fine gold, also sweeter than honey or drippings from the honeycomb.
11 Through them your servant is warned; in obeying them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern unintentional sins? Cleanse me from hidden faults.
13 Also keep your servant from presumptuous sins, so that they won't control me. Then I will be blameless and free of great offense.
14 May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be acceptable in your presence, ADONAI, my Rock and Redeemer. (Complete Jewish Bible).
Psalm 19:7 The Torah of ADONAI is perfect, restoring the inner person. The instruction of ADONAI is sure, making wise the thoughtless. (Complete Jewish Bible).
Finding your way through a dark room is hard. Especially if the room has stuff in it. At first we might move confidently, but after a few stubbed toes we slow down. Depending on what is in the room, we might even seriously injure ourselves and be unable to move at all.
Trying to make your way through the world can be a lot like moving through a dark room. Often it is hard to know what is the right thing to do, and sometimes we find that we have hurt ourselves or others without meaning too. Without a guiding light, we are all in danger of stumbling.
Fortunately, God has put a light switch within our reach. The Psalmist tells us that, “The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes” (Psalm 19:8). In Scripture, God tells us how to avoid the sharp corners of sin as we walk through life. If we take the time to prayerfully study Scripture, we will find that we can walk through life without fear that we will accidentally fall into sin.
Hymn for today: "Be Thou My Vision" by Mary E. Byrne
1. Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Nought be all else to me, save that Thou art—
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
2. Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
3. Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
4. High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Amen.
Thought for today: For wisdom will enter your heart, knowledge will be enjoyable for you, discretion will watch over you, and discernment will guard you. (Proverbs 2:10-11, Complete Jewish Bible).
Please pray: That many people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo will come to know the Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach Hakodesh.
